The discovery of an old photoalbum at a carboot sale in the poldervillage of Doel was the start for the writing up of the villages warhistory. The album did belong to a Flight Sergeant who served here during the liberation in 1944-1945. Thanks to his personal notes I was able to reconstruct the retreat of the German army and the end of the Second World War. For these two successful books I have interviewed many people who expierienced this frightened period and found out how the village survived the terror of death.

By clicking the image below you can have a sneak review. Unfortunately both books are not available anymore.
